Avinash Patwardhan obtained his MD in 1978 and a Master of Science in Health Promotion in 1998. Out of a 38-year career in health care, he spent 19 years in clinical practice and the other 19 in research and teaching. His research interests are school and community violence, health delivery process measurement, health outcomes, health economics, predictive modeling, wellness, syndromic surveillance, health policy, human sexuality, and complementary and alternative medicine. He has been teaching on and off since 1994, and currently, he is an adjunct assistant professor at George Mason University, USA. He has published widely. He also serves on the board of editors of four journals. He is a fellow of American Institute of Stress (AIS), a member of American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM), a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (Yoga Alliance USA), and a member of International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
