Eduarda Marques da Costa, PhD in Spatial Planning in 2001, is associate professor in the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of University of Lisbon. She teaches Geography and Spatial Planning since 1990, and she is a researcher in the Centre of Geographical Studies, since 1987, where she coordinates the Modelling, Planning, and Territorial Planning (MOPT) research group. The main scientific areas of interest are Sustainable Urban Development, Regional, Urban and Local Planning, Cohesion Policy and Evaluation of Public Policies and Health and Health Cities. Since 1988, she is consultant in private and public institutions and participated and coordinated more than 80 Research projects and studies for public and private institutions. In the last 20 years, she participated largely in ESPON Programmes namely as member of the Sounding Board 2008-13). From 2013-2022, she was Ad-Hoc expert in URBACT III Programme (European Commission) for Thematic Expertise – “Health” and “Support to local authorities and other stakeholders in designing & delivering integrated and participatory policies”. She was expert/evaluator of Finish Academy, Fundación la Caixa, PUC Chile, ANR. She is now Board Member of IUPEA - International Urban Planning and Environment Association, and representative of IGOT in AESOP.
