Lisa Amir, MBBS MMed PhD IBCLC FABM, is a Senior Research Fellow at Mother & Child Health Research, La Trobe University. She also works in breastfeeding medicine at the Royal Women's Hospital, Melbourne and in a private medical practice. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Breastfeeding Journal. Dr Amir gained her medical degree at Monash University, her Masters in Women's Health from the University of Melbourne and PhD from La Trobe University, and has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 1989. Her research areas include nipple and breast pain, maternal obesity and breastfeeding, maternal smoking and breastfeeding, rates of breastfeeding, and use of medicines for breastfeeding women. Current topics of investigation include:

- Trial of antenatal expressing for women with diabetes
