Nancy Wight MD, IBCLC, FABM, FAAP is a board-certified Neonatologist, and Medical Director of Lactation Services for Sharp HealthCare, San Diego, CA. She gained her MD and did her training in Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She completed her fellowships in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and ECMO at the University of California San Diego Medical Center. She has been a board-certified lactation consultant since 1988 and is an internationally recognized author and lecturer on breastfeeding and human lactation topics. Dr. Wight is the Breastfeeding Coordinator for District IX, Chapter 3 of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a past president of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine and served on the California State Breastfeeding Promotion Advisory Committee. She is also an active LLLI Medical Associate and on the ILCA Advisory Board and HMBANA Advisory Council. She is currently secretary/treasurer and web site editor for the San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition, which she helped found. Her book (primary author), “Best Medicine: Human Milk in the NICU” was published in July 2008.
