Steven Heydemann Vice President, Grant and Fellowship Program, U.S. Institute of Peace

Steven Heydemann serves as Vice President of the Grant and Fellowship Program. He received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Chicago (1990) and has held faculty positions at Columbia University and Georgetown University, where he directed the Center for Democracy and Civil Society from 2003-2007. Heydemann directed the Social Science Research Council Program on Philanthropy and the Nonprofit Sector from 2001-2003. He previously directed the SSRC’s programs on International Peace and Security and the Near and Middle East.
