SAGE Publishing Statement on the COVID-19 Pandemic

SAGE Publishing's thoughts are with the higher education teaching and research communities we serve as together we navigate this difficult time. We are committed to doing what we can to support you.

We know that the work of the research community will be critical to addressing the challenge of COVID-19. To support this, we have taken a number of actions, for example:

Publishing Program for Societies and Associations

Maximized Financial Return

Our expertise lies in seeking out and fully realizing potential revenue streams for our society partners. We aggressively develop commercial sales opportunities (primarily for our scientific and medical journals), including advertising, supplements, sponsorships, reprints, and translations. In addition, we focus on increasing revenues from subscriptions, consortia sales, and licensing. We can enhance your journal’s revenue flow while creating additional visibility for your journal content and your organization.

Why Choose Sage?

Entering into a new publishing partnership is a major decision for any society or organization. We believe that the publishing services we offer present a compelling case for you to consider working with us on your journal.

Top Reasons to Publish with Sage

Unlock the potential of your research: 8 reasons to publish with Sage

At Sage, we understand that every researcher's journey is unique. That's why we offer a diverse range of publishing options to meet your needs, whether it's open access, subscription, or hybrid models.

Here are eight reasons to choose Sage for your academic work:

SAGE Publishing Statement on Plan S

We understand the signatories of Plan S are frustrated by the pace of transition to open access (OA), but we believe that the hybrid option is a crucial element in the transformation, as long as it is underpinned by meaningful local and global offsetting polices and liberal Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) archiving policies. While we do not view hybrid OA as an end in itself, we believe it has an important role to play in the transformation of less well-funded disciplines.

SAGE's response to the 11th Circuit Court Ruling in the Georgia State University Lawsuit

The three publishers involved reluctantly undertook this action to help clarify important questions of copyright in a digital world.

We welcome today’s decision as it will help to protect the intellectual property rights of authors and publishers who produce high-quality educational materials on which colleges and universities depend.

We have at no time sought damages or to extend copyright protections through this case, merely wanting to bring Georgia State’s practices in line with those at other universities.

Privacy Policy

Overview/Introduction

Sage Publications values our relationship with you and recognises the importance of respecting and protecting your personal information and privacy.

This policy (together with any other resources referred to in it) sets out the basis on which any personal information you provide to us (or data we collect about you from other sources) will be processed (meaning collected, stored, and otherwise used) by us.

Historical content statement

Sage Journals content dates back to the mid-nineteenth century and may contain language and ideas that were once accepted by the scholarly community but are offensive or harmful. While recognizing the importance of preserving the historical record, we are addressing potentially harmful content in our archive on a case-by-case basis as we become aware of it.

Dignity at work

We strongly support dignity at work, and do not tolerate harassment or bullying of our staff or others. We consider harassment to be a form of conduct, speech or behavior which makes someone feel distressed, humiliated or threatened. It could take place in any setting and be conducted through any form, including electronic communication.

We consider bullying to be offensive, intimidating, malicious or insulting conduct, speech or behavior which makes someone feel vulnerable, upset or threatened.
