Sonia Semenic, RN, PhD is an Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University and a Nurse Scientist at the McGill University Health Center, Women’s Health Mission. Dr. Semenic has an undergraduate degree in psychology and an applied Masters and PhD in nursing from McGill University, and completed a Canadian Health Services Research Foundation postdoctoral fellowship at the School of Nursing, University of Ottawa. She also has many years of experience as a certified lactation consultant and clinical nurse specialist in maternal child health. Current topics of investigation include:
a. Factors influencing breastfeeding duration and exclusivity
b. Implementation of the Baby-Friendly Initiative
c. Implementation of best-practice guidelines and sustainability of practice change
d. Inequities in perinatal healthcare systems and outcomes
