Marie Tarrant, RN, MPH, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing, University of Hong Kong. Dr. Tarrant received her Bachelor and Master of Nursing degrees in Canada, her Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and her doctoral degree from Edith Cowan University in Australia. She teaches epidemiology and public health nursing courses to both undergraduate and graduate nursing students. Her research areas include infant feeding and infectious diseases. Current topics of investigation include:
- Interventions to increase exclusivity and duration of breastfeeding
- In-hospital formula supplementation of breastfeeding infants
- Baby-friendly hospital practices and breastfeeding
- Influenza vaccination during pregnancy
