Graham Pineo, M.D. University of Calgary, Canada

Dr. Graham Pineo, MD, FRCPC, FAFP is Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Calgary, Calgary, Canada. He studied Medicine at Dalhousie University at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. His postgraduate training in Internal Medicine was at Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto. He trained in Hematology at the University of Rochester, NY and was a Medical Research Council Fellow in Rochester and at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in London, UK. He was on the Faculty of Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario from 1970-78 and has been in Calgary since that time. His clinical and research interests have been in the prevention, diagnosis and management of venous thromboembolism. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed publications and numerous book chapters. He is a member of a number of national and international thrombosis committees including the ACCP Conference on Antithrombotic and Thrombolytic Therapy and Up To Date in Medicine. He has served on the Editorial Board of several journals and periodicals including Current Opinion in Pulmonary Medicine and Clinical and Applied Thrombosis and Hemostasis. He has received numerous awards including Medical Alumnus of the Year in 2007 from Dalhousie University and Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Calgary Health Region and the University of Calgary in 2006.
