Thomas Ertl is a lecturer at the Universities Berlin (Freie Universität), Heidelberg, Göttingen and the German Historical Institute in Rome. He is the Professor of Economic and Social History of the Middle Ages at the University of Vienna since October 2011. His research mainly focuses on late medieval and early modern economic and social history of Western Europe and beyond.

Madhavi Thampi is an Honorary Fellow at the Institute of Chinese Studies, New Delhi. She taught Chinese History at Delhi University for 35 years. Her publications include Indians in China, 1800-1949 (2005), and China and the Making of Bombay (co-authored with Shalini Saksena, 2009). She is also the editor of the volume India and China in the Colonial World (2005, 2010).

Jabin T. Jacob is Fellow (Associate Professor) at the Institute of Chinese Studies, Delhi. He was previously Assistant Director of the Institute from 2011 to 2016. He holds a PhD in Chinese Studies from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and has spent time as a student and researcher in Taiwan, France and Singapore.

Richard C. Feiock is director of the Center for Sustainable Energy and Governance and the August B. Turnbull Professor in the Askew School of Public Administration and Policy at Florida State University.
