Practice Teaching in Healthcare
- Neil Gopee - Coventry University, UK
Structured largely around the Nursing and Midwifery Council's standards for Practice Teachers, the book provides comprehensive coverage of the knowledge and skills required to supervise and assess the learning of qualified healthcare practitioners particularly those on post-qualifying specialist or advanced practice programmes, and therefore includes:
-Managing inter-professional relationships
-Specialist and advanced practice and knowledge
-Assessment and accountability
-Leadership in facilitation of learning and assessment of clinical skills
-Clinical practice development and evidence-based practice, and
- Issues and further developments in learning beyond registration.
With action points, illustrations and case studies, this is an ideal textbook for healthcare professionals who are students on practice teaching courses, and all facilitators of learning beyond initial registration.
Useful background information but not completely relevant to my topic - clinical neuropsychology
A very good book which has been identified as recommended reading and requested for the library
A useful text which summarises current professional and theoretical literature relevant to practice teaching.
An excellent book, which although covers the subject of mentoring students on specialist and advanced practice programmes, gives useful and insightful information for students undertaking degree level mentorship programmes.
I especially like the Action points set out throughout the book. These will either envoke reflection from students reading on thier own or provide points for group discussion.
Really timely and useful text addressing the major issues in PT preparation
This text has been recommended to clinical mentors rather than the studnets themselves. Useful to help mentors facilitate appropriate teaching clinically and undersatnd the complexitie sof their role.
this is really good to support nurse going beyong mentoring and developing their teaching and assessing skills
This is a useful supplemental text as it has really useful chapters on teaching, learning, assessing and leadership. I will be passing on details of this book to a colleague who teaches a Masters level module aimed at Practice Teachers, as it looks like it could be recommended reading for this course.
